A reliable surveillance system needs more than cameras alone. For homes, small businesses and professional installations, having a central recording system, local storage, network connectivity and intelligent monitoring can make security management much easier.
The Ubiquiti UNVR Instant Kit brings these components together in one compact UniFi Protect solution. The kit combines a compact Ubiquiti Network Video Recorder Instant, four G5 Turret Ultra cameras and a 1TB surveillance-grade hard drive. It is designed to provide a straightforward starting point for users who want to build a capable UniFi Protect surveillance system without purchasing each core component separately.

What Is Included in the Ubiquiti UNVR Instant Kit?
The kit is built around three key components:
- One UniFi Network Video Recorder Instant
- Four G5 Turret Ultra cameras
- One 1TB surveillance-grade hard drive
This combination gives users a central location for managing and recording camera footage while providing four cameras for surveillance coverage.
The included NVR supports up to 15 HD cameras, eight 2K cameras or six 4K cameras, providing room for future expansion beyond the four cameras included in the kit. It also features six Gigabit PoE Ethernet ports, allowing compatible cameras to receive both network connectivity and power through the same connection.
For businesses or properties that may eventually require additional cameras, this scalability can make the UNVR Instant a practical foundation for a growing surveillance installation.
2K G5 Turret Ultra Cameras for Detailed Surveillance
At the centre of the camera system are four Ubiquiti G5 Turret Ultra cameras.
Each camera features a 4MP sensor and records at up to 30 frames per second at a 2K resolution of 2688 × 1512. The camera also provides a 120.6° diagonal field of view, helping cover a broad area from a single mounting position.
The cameras are suitable for a variety of locations, including entrances, driveways, retail areas, offices, warehouses and other areas where continuous surveillance may be required.
The G5 Turret Ultra also includes a built-in microphone, providing audio capture alongside video recording.

AI Smart Detections for More Useful Monitoring
One of the advantages of a modern surveillance system is the ability to distinguish important activity from general movement.
The G5 Turret Ultra supports smart detections for people, vehicles and animals. These AI-powered detection capabilities can help make security monitoring and event identification more efficient by providing more useful information about what has been detected.
For a business, this can be useful when monitoring entrances, parking areas or delivery zones. At home, smart detections can help users identify activity around key areas of a property.
The technology does not eliminate the need for appropriate security procedures, but it can make reviewing surveillance events more practical.
Built for Indoor and Outdoor Installation
The G5 Turret Ultra is designed for flexible installation.
The cameras feature an IP66 weatherproof rating and are designed for wall or ceiling mounting. They can operate across a temperature range from -30°C to 50°C, making them suitable for a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
The cameras also include IK04 tamper resistance, adding another layer of physical protection for installations where the camera may be accessible.
This makes the four included cameras suitable for locations such as:
- Building entrances
- Retail premises
- Offices
- Warehouses
- Driveways
- Outdoor areas
- Residential properties
- Small commercial facilities
Night Vision for Around-the-Clock Monitoring
Security does not stop when daylight disappears. The G5 Turret Ultra cameras include infrared night vision with a range of up to 30 metres.
The built-in infrared illumination and IR cut filter are designed to support monitoring in low-light and nighttime environments.
This can be particularly useful for entrances, outdoor pathways, parking areas and other locations that require visibility after dark.
Integrated PoE Makes Installation Simpler
The UNVR Instant includes a built-in six-port Gigabit PoE switch with a total PoE budget of 40W.
Power over Ethernet can simplify the installation of compatible security cameras because the Ethernet connection can carry both data and power.
Instead of requiring separate power connections for each camera, the cameras can connect directly to the NVR's PoE ports.
This can help reduce cable clutter and make the overall installation cleaner, particularly for small business and residential deployments.
The six available PoE ports also leave additional connectivity capacity beyond the four cameras supplied with the kit.
1TB Surveillance-Grade Storage Included
The kit includes a 1TB 3.5-inch hard drive designed for surveillance workloads.
According to Ubiquiti's specifications, the included drive has a workload rating of 180TB per year and a listed mean time between failures of 1,000,000 hours.
Having storage included means customers can start recording without needing to purchase a compatible hard drive separately.
The UNVR Instant itself supports one 3.5-inch drive, so users can configure their storage around the needs of their surveillance deployment.
Storage requirements will vary depending on factors such as the number of cameras, resolution, recording settings and retention requirements.
Compact NVR Design for Flexible Placement
Despite its surveillance capabilities, the UNVR Instant uses a compact desktop form factor.
The recorder measures approximately 220 × 220 × 47 mm and weighs around 1.04 kg. It can be installed on a desktop or mounted to a wall or DIN rail using the included mounting support.
The NVR also features a 1.14-inch display, Ethernet and Bluetooth management, and an HDMI port for Viewport functionality.
Its compact design can be useful for installations where rack space is limited or where a smaller surveillance recorder is preferred.
UniFi Protect and UniFi Access Integration
The UNVR Instant is designed to work within the wider UniFi ecosystem.
It supports UniFi Protect for video surveillance management and UniFi Access for door access applications. The NVR can support up to 50 compatible UniFi Access hubs according to Ubiquiti's specifications.
This integration can be particularly useful for businesses that want to bring different aspects of physical security into a connected platform.
Instead of managing surveillance and access systems completely separately, compatible UniFi products can be managed through the relevant UniFi applications.
Who Is the Ubiquiti UNVR Instant Kit For?
The Ubiquiti UNVR Instant Kit is particularly suited to customers looking for a complete starting point for a UniFi Protect surveillance deployment.
It can be a practical choice for:
Small Businesses
Retail stores, offices, workshops and other small businesses can use the four included cameras to monitor key areas such as entrances, customer areas, workspaces and external locations.
Homes
For larger homes or properties requiring multiple camera positions, the four-camera configuration can provide coverage across entrances, driveways, garages and other important areas.
Professional Security Installations
The combination of an NVR, four cameras and integrated PoE provides installers with a ready-made foundation for a UniFi Protect deployment.
Growing Surveillance Systems
Because the NVR supports up to 15 HD, eight 2K or six 4K cameras, customers have room to expand the system depending on their camera resolution and deployment requirements.
